There are many waterfalls, ponds, rainbow trout, trees, caves to see there. ![]() We were lucky enough to see two young elk learning how to fight with their antlers because some day they will be vying for the top spot for head elk who gets all the gals! The bison/longhorn area was a decent size although nothing like you see in Yellowstone or South Dakota. I felt kind of sorry for the deer as their area was not very large. There we saw elk, white tailed deer, longhorns and bison. Then magically a gate opens and leads you into Arkansas and the wildlife area. The two hour tram ride goes down the very trails that you walk or bike ride on until you get to the end of the road. Even during the pandemic they were booked one week ahead and many people were turned away that didn't have reservations. ![]() This is very popular and I would suggest that you book it online as soon as you have a date when you will be there. Since we are seniors plus wanted to see the animals we opted for the wildlife tram tour. There is 10,000 acres to explore several different ways, on foot, bicycle, horseback or tram. ![]() While it is a pricey place to visit the outdoors, it is worth it. My husband and I visited here for the day during October 2020 during the pandemic. I did feel kind of sorry for the bison that they served bison burgers in the restaurant. And there is a gift store and restaurant at the park entrance. There are rainbow trout to feed at various points in the park. Most of the waterfalls are fairly small, and if you don't see all of them, it's probably okay. If you would like to see animals, you could go to the Promised Land Zoo where you will see many more animals at a lower price, and those animals come right up to your car because they get fed by guests. I think that it was hot enough that our group was getting noticeably sleepy and wearied in the animal part of the tour. The tour is also designed to spend an equal amount of time in the animal sanctuary portion and the main park portions. Although animal sanctuary is probably not available to the exploring public, it consists mainly of a herd of bison and elks and longhorns, none of which get fed on the tram tour, so they are not especially interactive. So by the time you've taken the tram, you've already seen all the waterfalls, which you could have explored on your own for $20. If I were to do it again, I'd suggest visiting the park without the tram ride, because the tram tickets can't be purchased without buying an additional park entrance fee. The tram price is $32 for a two hour tour of the various waterfalls, the Hope Chapel, and animal sanctuary at the back of the park. The park entry is $20 per person with discounts available to military service members or AAA members. If you do bring your own, you do have to sign a waiver when you purchase your park entry ticket. You can take your own bicycles to ride around the park or you can rent bikes on site. ![]() You can rest easy knowing your vacation cabin is in the best hands. So the park is lovely, and well-appointed, as I would expect from the guy who built the Aquarium in Springfield, as no cost was spared there either.
